AIA Western North Carolina is a regional chapter of the American Institute of Architects, serving architects, emerging professionals, and allied design disciplines across the diverse and dynamic landscapes of Western North Carolina. We are a collaborative network of designers committed to shaping a built environment that is safe, sustainable, inclusive, and reflective of the people and places we serve.
is NOT created in isolation—it’s built through relationships.
That’s why we work hand-in-hand with engineers, contractors, interior designers,
community leaders, and government officials to ensure that the spaces we design
are not only innovative and functional, but also grounded in equity, safety, and local
identity.
Through continuing education at section meetings and Lunch & Learns, AIA Western North Carolina creates opportunities for architects to learn, grow, and stay engaged with evolving best practices. We also serve as a resource for our region, promoting the importance of hiring and collaborating with architects to ensure thoughtful, safe, and impactful design in Western North Carolina.
AIA Western North Carolina believes in the power of collaboration to create positive change. By partnering with organizations like RiverLink, MountainTrue, and the Appalachian Design Center, we connect architects with community initiatives that support sustainability, resilience, and equitable access to good design. These partnerships allow us to extend our impact beyond the profession and into the communities we serve.
AIA Western North Carolina champions the needs of our profession and our communities through active advocacy at the local and state levels. As our region continues to recover from Hurricane Helene, we are focused on creating and connecting resources that help communities rebuild, adapt, and thrive.
